To my ear, Hillary is clearly saying “we aren’t going to raise taxes on the middle class.” But here, listen for yourself:
We’ll probably be hearing this for at least a few days, and of course forever from the most rabid and delusional anti-Clinton people. According to someone on Democratic Underground, Trump has already cut an ad featuring this clip. I’ve tried searching for it and haven’t found it yet (I’m not going to his site.)
I think this is clearly and entirely laughable because her policy position is definitely not to raise taxes on the middle class, so turning this into a swiftboating attempt is ridiculous. Absolutely desperate to change the conversation even for a day or to turn anyone back to his side, even a small sliver, this clip of Hillary just not quite enunciating the “n’t” part of “aren’t” as much as would be ideal is probably the best he has for the moment. Obviously all she would have to do is at worst cut a response ad or some other sort of response, but I truly think some response would be wise as opposed to ignoring it, as a lot of people are ignorant and easily swayed. After all, those are exactly the people that Trump will rely on as his only hope.
